Meet Kady

An idea born from nine years as a divorced mom.

When I left my marriage of 19 years, I left with nothing but the drive and determination to create a new life for myself as a self-sufficient, independent and joyful woman. I had no money, and just a few possessions that were meaningful to me. I had no real career skills and no job. Most of my friends back in San Antonio were still “coupled” and while they loved me and wanted to help, they had no practical experience with the journey I now found myself on. I truly felt alone.

In the years since, I have scrapped and scraped to build a successful career in financial services, put a kid through school and keep a roof over my head (just barely.)   Even though it was scary and often very touch-and-go, I managed to even have a lot of fun along the way.  But this is not about me…

Over the course of the last few years, at least a dozen women from my past have reached out to me with the same question: “I’m going through a divorce.  How did you do it?”  I realized that my experience of being alone and not knowing where to turn for solid advice was anything but unique.  In fact, it seemed to be far more common than I ever suspected.  But why?

Over two million women in the US become “uncoupled” each year after long term relationships.  Shouldn’t there be a way to harness the collective wisdom of this incredible community to teach, learn and share as we navigate these rocky waters and strive to take control of our own stories?

In many ways, Good Better Next is a grand experiment in women helping women.  It is animated by the idea that real human connection in community combined with rich educational resources could make this road far less bumpy as we all seek confidence, competence, wellness and (yes!) joy!  I hope you will join us.

It’s very early days for Good Better Next, but we have been so encouraged by the hundreds of women who have said, “I need that!,” or “If only this had been around after my divorce.” Our founding team has built great community experiences for companies such as Ancestry.com and Match.  I am excited to see all the new connection tools and capabilities we plan to introduce over the coming months.
